story help 2

Referring to my last post, where I asked about the siblings, I have another question about them. Now in the story before the one I am writing now, one of the male siblings has the ability to defy inertia and gravity at an extreme level. This makes him the main character in the story. Now in the second story I am planning to give the same abilities with the rest of his siblings; each of them with the ability to control their own form of energy. Would it be good for the main character, and is this a good idea? Why?

Intertia is a property of matter, so perhapse that sibling isnt made of matter, but not of antimatter either... though that shouldnt matter... and defying gravity wouldnt be the best of ideas, afterall it does keep us on this planet... but either way, this is a story, not a class on physics, so never mind on that.

What do you mean by their form of energy?

Well each sibling would be able to control a form of energy, which is different depending on who uses it.

The energies I am referring to are eight different "unknown to man" energies that are controlled by each sibling.

So you're writing a super hero story.

ok, I can see the point of that, but why are you questioning whether this is a good idea. Unfortunately you're not revealing enough information for us to give you educated advice. So:

*picks up dart, throws*

Thoonk!

It's a bad idea. The dart has spoken.

If you don't want to tell us a lot about the story due to privacy or copyrighting concerns, then you may need for find another person to help you. We can't answer these questions unless you're willing to reveal more about the story.

If you're really concerned, then PM a Mentor or moderator and you can have the discussion in private.

i agree wholeheartedly with talia and his dartboard!... sorry, but it makes no sense to ask questions like this of people who have no clue to what your story is or how the characters fit into it...

also, when you refer to 'the story before this one' do you really mean 'book'?... as in you're writing a series of novels?... or do you mean 'short stories' that feature the same characters?...

If your going to pull out really flashy hero powers, your going to have to pull out really flashy enemy powers, and if you do that you might have to tweak the condition of things on a whole earthly level. If your character is going to be invincible, there has to be a force in the universe which is anti-invincible. And you'll want any being you want in the storyline to be able to carry some weight. There are all these scales that you have to balance, which in your case might be really hard, taking into account that most comic books suck.

I just find this post so sentence so funny. Its late, i just got home from work and the stupidest things make me laugh. If you are doing a superhero thing, i would like to know more only because this is something im working on as well.

Alright, you found that funny, and my dartboard and spiderman comments weren't.

I'm concerned.

No, they were funny, but i somehow missed them the first time around. I skimmed the comments and just now noticed the most comics suck thing. This is obviously from someone that hasnt read many comics in the past few years, or just not the right ones ha!
