APA style question
I am writing a paper in APA style. I have downloaded a paper from the website: http://www.holycross.edu/departments/economics/ website/honors/blanchette_thesis.pdf In this paper Ms. Blanchette quotes an article from Macworld magazine. I have quoted her in my paper. I am having trouble finding how to write this citation. Am I supposed to cite the original author, cite the authour of the paper I have or cite both. An example of what this would look like would be great. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Thank you for your time in this matter Alex

How was it easier to register here and post this and wait for a response when you could have just googled?

Many Thanks
I think that was the most informative answer I have ever recieved to a question I posted in a forum. It really shows how much you care to send such a helpful answer. Thank you so much for answering my question with a question of your own. I hope the other members of this community are as helpful as you were. If I ever need some web design I will be sure to contact you and your helpful company.
Also, Thank you for assuming that I didn't try Google first or also looking at my APA style guide. I never would have thought to look in those places. I guess the old adage about stupid questions is null and void here in this forum. I still really appreciate your spending the time it took to respond to my plea for help. It took approxamately 1.5 minutes to type this. It is 1.5 minutes out of my life I will never get back.
Instead of being a smart ass fuckwit, you could have just answered the question.
Thanks anyway

If the quote originates from the original author and has nothing to do with the other author of the other paper, quote the original author and the source it was reported in originally.
If the other author expounded upon the orginal quote and added commentary and you want to quote that, you should cite both articles.
Disclaimer: This is what I've done for the past few years in college and I've never gotten marked down. If you're still torn about the idea and are doing this for a class, I would seriously suggest contacting the professor or the TA for their input.

Hmmm... good idea, CZ. But, wouldn't it be easier to just indirectly site the source? Like, according to xxxxx and then the quote? That's what I usually do anyway. I hate Reference pages, and I especially hate paranthetical citations when you're not working off of someone else's work. But, that's a debate for another time.
Later.

Cite the person you are quoting, and the original publication, not the person that quotes them.

thanks you all
I finally did just cite the original author. I have a APA manual and I also checked APA.org (not much help there unless I wanted to purchase another style guide) I did not get marked down for my solution. It was a last minute informational find and there was no time to get ahold of the Prof. I went with my gut and with your guts also.
Thank you for you time and shared knowledge.
