New with a question!

Hi everyone. I am new here and have recently started my first novel. I am seven chapters in and gave some of my work to a writing group to critique. The complaint I saw again and again was that my story moved too quickly and there was too much sumarizing. A lot of people have suggested at outline which is great for my next chapters but these have already been writen so an outline is no help. Others have suggested scraping it and starting over but before I do that I was wondering if you guys have any advice on fixing and preventing this problem? Thanks So Much!

Cady - in the critique and advice section, go ahead and post a portion (ie one chapter) of your writing with a brief intro about what it is your writing, the chapter, and some preliminary information. Include what you are looking for.

This way, one could give you some better advice and feedback as to what one would do with such writing. This works much better.

No, that is alright welcome to the forum though, and hope you will enjoy your stay here. People are really nice, some are brutually honest, and others are a bit passive. But, all in all, we are pretty good group of people here. There are both experienced and inexperienced writers here so as you learn, see what you can do to provide suggestions and advice to others.

Welcome

Perhaps you can use that draft as a detailed plan or first draft to work on and extend.
