A Plot Problem I'm having...
Hello all, sorry to drop in unanounced, but I've have been trying to find an active message board that might beable to help me for a long time. I hope I'm posting this in the right forum, please forgive me if I've screwed up.
I've read the rules, and I'm not sure if 'adult' relates to romance novels so I'll cover this up as much as possible.
I am writing a story that revolves around a love affair with two people, so far I'm doing great and I've got the entire story planned out, plots for future chapters and how it's going to end all, great reviews...you get my drift. My only thing is that I am worried about the content of much later chapters pertaining to the plot. I mean, there are only so many times you can do something without getting repiticious, (scuse my spelling as well, urg.) and making the same thing happen over and over again without it getting boring.
I guess this question is broad, and maybe confusing. What else can happen in this sort of a situation?? what else can happen between characters besides that?
I know this isn't making much sense. I guess another way to put it is what other stuff can I put in that gives the story more 'stuff' besides the expected?

It depends what you are repeating. Without knowing what you are repeating then it's hard to say if it can be done another way.
For example, sex. No doubt something your "romance" novel will have. What is the purpose of the sex. Is it just lust or love. If it's lust then the sex will change over time. Possibly getting more selfish for each partner. If it's love then it will still change but most of the time to show love needs something other than sex. A character helping out another one in a time of need can show more love than a 1,000 pages of sex between them.
Of course, it might not be sex but whatever it is try to ask yourself why the characters are doing it and if there is another way they could do it, or something else they could do to achieve what it is they want.

Hi Vaxil, (welcome to the forums, btw)
I'm afraid you're right, I do have a hard time figuring out exactly what the problem is. Maybe you need to be more specific?
I think every writer struggles with plot to some degree. I sort of look at plot as a series of layers with each layer adding more detail. That doesn't mean the scenes get bogged down in detail, but maybe you add a new scene to illustrate a point you want to make or develop a character. I go back to my snowflake to help with plot development. You can find out more about the snowflake method by googling "snowflake method"; you might find that helpful too.
On the point of repeating scenarios, there's very little that hasn't been done before so don't get too hung up on that. Try to focus instead on how your characters are reacting, which may be different or unexpected, or on a small twist that makes it a little different, or try to bring in a new or different element. You can try adding sub-plots, adding characters to mix, the options are really endless.
I don't know if I've helped you at all or just confused you more. I hope the former. Good luck and keep at it.

Thank you both, midland you nailed it. I actually haven't even gotten to the part where the 'affair' starts, as this story goes kinda of slow. I'm worried abouyt the future because as stupid as it sounds, I'm not to sure what else I can make happen between the two, like with circumstances and situations (It's a secret) I don't want to put in a like you said, 1000's pages of sex. But other things that can happen besides that.
Sand, TY, I will remember that!

if your looking for plot twists you could have the guys ex-lover show up, to make it more of a twist, have the ex-lover a be guy.
but i might have missed the point of the post, if so please ignore this post!

Scenarios are awsome, it just sucks that nothing else besides sex goes on in an affair, well, usually anyways.
To bad my guys widowed XD
