it's a 'story development' program... not something any serious writer should need/use, but that's just my opinion...

rhea...
as p. t. barnum so wisely/cynically noted, 'there's a sucker born every day... and two to take 'em!'...
so, to answer your question, anything that can be done naturally and easily by people of talent and skill, can be transformed by the greedy into something supposedly anyone can do, with mechanical/technical assistance... that one needs to buy, naturally!

Novel writing software always reminds me of those infomercials about the latest exercise machine/video. It all looks so easy. Lose weight, look buff, get your six pack in 10 minutes a day...
They never tell you that it's still bloody hard work, that you'll sweat and go a funny colour and you still won't look as good as the model who spends 30 seconds demonstrating the product.
There's only one software package that will write a novel for you, and that's the one that's running between your ears.
Remember - Shakespeare didn't own a laptop.

I used the program once. It was a neat diversion but it is no substitute for actually writing. The best thing I can say about it is that it did give me a few minor ideas and helped finesse my outline a little. Other than that, I found it too narrow, always trying to push my book to have a "theme" etc.

Theres nothing wrong with having a theme; it can give your book greater depth. But you don't need software for that.

Yes, Mike C, but none of their themes remotely fit what I was trying to write. I found many of them too simplistic.

still unresolved is whether the original question referred to 'dramaTica' or not!... there may really be something called 'dramaRica' out there...

I've tried it out before, kind of too complex for my taste =p
good luck with it if you do plan to use it, and would like to hear about your experience with it if you don't mind
