So is it "Alright" or "All right"? (Or "Allright"?)

I'm confused.

It's never all right, it's always alright. Alright?

Unless, it's like, all right, as in no left.

Well, already is always alright, so use the almighty alright.

I think the only dissidents of alright are just against it because it's a newer compound word than always or some of the other examples.

Although, you can always ask somebody else. Everyone already knows I'm no expert.

Usage Note: Despite the appearance of the form alright in works of such well-known writers as Langston Hughes and James Joyce, the single word spelling has never been accepted as standard. This is peculiar, since similar fusions such as already and altogether have never raised any objections. The difference may lie in the fact that already and altogether became single words back in the Middle Ages, whereas alright has only been around for a little more than a century and was called out by language critics as a misspelling. Consequently, one who uses alright, especially in formal writing, runs the risk that readers may view it as an error or as the willful breaking of convention.

But even then, it's become a generally accepted spelling during this generation. At not one point during my writing have I ever been criticized for the use of 'alright' in a paper.

That sentence is clumsy and confusing, and should read "The mental patient isn't alright, but our tests were all correct".

There you have it.

I've personally always used alright--unless stating that a group of 'things' are 'all' right. EG: The answers are all right

I think both 'alright' and 'all right' is correct, it depends on what you're using it for.

"I know what I'm doing, alright?" he yelled.

"Are you all right?" she asked, concern in her voice.

So, yeah...not sure if I'm making any sense.
