I agree completely. If you're serious about writing, act like it. Uninstall all the games from your computer. Cancel your cable. Get a fat stack of books and put them where you read the most (not in bed, trust me, reading in bed messes with sleeping). Then grab a notebook, your favorite pen, and a comfortable chair and start writing. Write for at least two hours whether you feel like it or not.
Writing isn't like watching a movie. It isn't easy. Sometimes you'll look at the clock and realize you've written two decent sentances in two hours. You will get frustrated. Find some way to keep yourself motivated. I have a sign hanging at eye level next to my desk that says the same thing my signature does. Reading it helps me through the times when writing is the last thing I want to do after a tough day at class/work. If you want to get anything done, you have to work at it.
