Kane, when a racist and sexist little lunatic gets teamed up on, I do not really have any problem with it. He was heavily criticised in this and in other threads because his views were both wrong and offensive. Should we as a board welcome his bigotry? Should we agree that Jewish people are "more intelligent" and that Native Americans are "disgusting savages"? Should we pander to someone who sees females in books as little more than objects for titilation? Should we tolerate someone that believes that ugly people are inherantly worse than their better looking brethren?
I say no. I only wish that this was not such an sterile mode of communication, as I would dearly love to laugh in his face.
This thread will, no doubt, continue until it is locked, as more people will continually have the misfortune of viewing it and Ilyak's absurd remarks within, and many of those people will be angered enough to respond. Thus until he concedes that his views are repulsive and retracts his previous posts, I do not believe that this thread will die without a lock. Sadly, Ilyak has show himself to be utterly impossible to persuade with logic or reason, which leads me to wonder with idle curiousity about whether a large mallet would work more effectively...
Now, as we have seen in this and other threads, Ilyak's constant habit of refering to his own works and posting his own prejudices and opinions as gospel results more often than not in massive thread-jacking, such as this. For obvious reasons, this is bad for the site. We're a writing site, not an Ilyak-gets-owned site.
As far as I can see, there are two options. The first is simple: Ban Ilyak. I'm reluctant to advocate that, even though, as a result of certain things he has expressed to me via MSN, I loathe the little shite about much as I am able to loathe words coming to me via a cathode ray tube. He has some potential as a writer, and, if his claims are to be believed, has a brain of sorts in there. The second option is the more desireable, and it is very simple. Unfortunately, only one person can make this choice:
Ilyak can and must learn when to shut his mouth and learn from the posts of others. Only when he concedes that Tom Clancy and (watching the) Lord of the Rings (movie) does not make you well read, and anime and games are not prose and all characters must not be beautiful and that there is not a racial hierarchy from himself and his kin down to savage, evil, evil, evil indigenous people, and when he begins to take the opinions of others on board...only then will ridiculous threads like this not result.
The big problem with Ilyak's position, aside from it's utter stupidity, is that he refuses to back down from it.
Ilyak - I hope "momzilla" slaps some respect into you and your friend.
