title help!
I have a new story, and have called it "The Trouble With Justice", it seems like an okay title but im a little bit worried that it doesnt represent my story 100%.
My stopry is about a drug and alcohol addict who gets clean and sober and comes out of rehab. she wants to find her son (he was taken away from her) and see that he is okay. she basically does many things to find out where he is and in the end she can only do it by becoming a police informer and ends up getting involved in the criminal world she thopugh she left behind. when she finds her son she discovers that there is something wrong with his new family and goes to find a way to rescue him.
anyway i dont know if my title really reflects that.
the other ideas i had were...
The Informer (although i think theres already something called that and it gives the impression that it's about an informer, rather than its actualy content
The Loser Of Justice
what do you think of those? do you have any of your own ideas?

I'm sorry, but none of those titles really grab me. My advice, and this is merely my opinion, is to go through your writing. Look for any recurring phrases that are short, simple and, most importantly, memorable. Whatever it is, it should sound unique - "The Informer," for example, doesn't sound like unique.
You want someone to think your name when they say the title, they shouldn't think of movies and other books.

its not fully written yet is the problem.
i know theres something wrong with the title- its bad and the informer is awful. i think it sounds like you're trying too hard if you call it the informer of something. it sounds like an arnie flick.

Victoria, I wouldn't bother about the title for the time being. Complete your novel first, and then start thinking about it. Might as well you come up with something fetching while writing the last bits!

Worry about finishing the story before you start fretting about the lack of title.

I like The Trouble With Justice, but only if what you're writing is some form of comedy. I don't want to make any assumptions, but thats's my assumption. For a more tragic tale, I'd pick a completely different title.

all above comments/advice are on target, imo... finish it first and by then, i'm sure you'll have a title...
'cruel justice' might fit... and so far, it's only in use for a non-fiction book, i think...

Just write, don't worry about the title yet. You may find it just writing, or just something pops into your mind that you know is the perfect title, but don't go actively looking for it.
That said, don't use any of the titles you suggested. They're all dull and boring. Then again, I'm turned off from any novel that has 'The' at the start.

I really like The Trouble with Justice. I don't know what it is exactly, but it has a nice ring to it.

I think it sounds blatant if you think of it a certain way... But try thinking of it like a sort of dark irony.
Like, "the trouble with bob is..." You know, in that context. It sounds cool like that.

I think The Trouble with Justice sounds cliche ...i have to agree with everyone else ..for a comedy yes its great ...cos it does have that sense of irony with it ..but if thats not what your going for then steer clear of titles like this i think. Go for something a little darker.

The Trouble with Justice is alright, but I think you should find a better word to replace 'trouble'. Or justice. You might call it The Pain of Salvation if you don't mind possible legal threats from prog-metal bands.
But I pretty much agree with everyone who says you should wait until it's finished to really worry about a title. It's hard not to think about it, I know, it really eats at me when I don't have a good title. Just read a few articles or chapters about titles, and once your book is done you'll find something you really like. It's hard to make things ring with everyone, so consider your target audience and the other media they'd be exposed to, the book as a whole, some of your favourite phrases inside the book or relating to it.

People always come up with thier own title when asked this...
Justice Lost --- kind of like paradise lost
maybe you could have some kind of title connected to the whole having to be forced back into the world she wanted to leave
one step forward, three steps back?
maybe
