I wouldn't use Voldo because it's the name of a character in a popular video game. Even if you didn't use him as a base for your character some people may assume you did.
For fantasy names I usually try to create a name that "fit" my character. For example if my character is a noble paladin, I try to come up with a noble name, wild barbarians get wild, chaotic names, etc.

If you just look for name generators you'll be surprised how many odd ones you get. You can have fantasy names, science fiction names, monster names, names of kings, names for animals, your name if you were to be a hobbit. And so on.

Fair enough, then let writingforums be your generator and just ask people for fantasy names.

I dont like Voldo because I just get the image of a wee slithery monster guy from Soul Caliber. You should on the other hand, use Voldo as a beginning and experiment by expanding from it.

Maybe this is too much work for just one name, but I write 'a' 'b' 'c' (each on one line) in one line going down a page and then do the childhood code thing - 'a' stands for 'e', 'r' stands for 'd'. If you write a name and then 'translate' it into your code, you're likely to get gibberish. However, you can use it as a base for forming your fantasy name.

Why not try using a name in a different language?
For instance, I use this site to find names for all of my fantasy charactors.
A few langauge suggestions would be Celtic, Gaelic, Anglo-Saxon, Arthurian (for more midevil names), Teutonic and Norse.
Those the ones I use most often.
