Well, I usually write at my computer. Otherwise if I use a notepad I usually do it on my deck or at my cabin. I never write near anyone for some reason.

I usually write in complete darkness with the exception of the screen. Outside, or at my computer. But for some reason, I can only write at my computer with, Eye of the Tiger playing, and I have no clue why.

I live in the middle of the woods so I walk out a ways, climb to the top of this one special tree (it's huge!) and write in my notebook. It's really nice because as far out as you can see, there is only mountains, trees and rivers. And get this...I've only fell out of the tree once! (coming down...)

If it's raining, I sit inside at the window seat. I could watch the rain forever.

Back in the old days BC (Before Computer, that is), I used to lie on the bed with lined paper and pen and actually write something. But since I got a comouter some years back that's where I do my wordk now... in the Computer Room (gee, what an original name).

I can only write by hand on my notepad, preferably with a pencil, and I HAVE to be outside.
When I'm outside I feel free like there are no limits and I can just sit back and think and dream anything up and I feel completely unrestricted. In my house I just get restless and need to be out where I can get a sense of freedom. It's weird, but it works for me!

That's what its all about! I use to love writing outside, but now, I feel I get too distracted. There are times when I still do it, sometimes loving it and getting a lot accomplished, other times not so much.

But preferbly, now, I just close myself in the study and type away...

Yeah I see your point. I usually listen to music too. I have a lot of weird habits which would really distract some people but I need the music to block out all the other sounds around me and then I almost forget the music is even playing

My writing outside habit is all very well now, but summer can't last forever...

Same here

but if I’m not at my desk I'm outside writing either in my yard or in the foot hills of a mountain that’s conveniently nearby.

where do i write?

everywhere!

as i'm homeless and house/pet-sit for whoever needs me, i write anywhere in the world i happen to be at the moment, on my laptop set wherever i can sit at it, as comfortably as possible...

i also write while traveling from one gig to the next and whenever an idea hits me, no matter where i am at the time... even in my sleep, sorta, since i keep a notepad and pen on the bed...

I don't really like writing by hand. I appreciate speed, and I'm much faster with a keyboard. Being able to easily change mistakes and rewrite entire sections without waste is very cool.

In the past, I used to write on a laptop in the mountains, but now I write exclusively at home on my desktop. Listen to mp3's in the background (usually video game soundtracks or "Dead Can Dance"), and frequently tab over to dictionary.com to confirm my meanings and occasionally use the thesaurus.

I write on my laptop, either on my couch or in my office at my desk, facing away from it. I have an ottoman in my office, so I prop my feet up on it and type.

I like to write poetry in a pretty journal or other blank book.

I write my stories on the computer that has the working printer, which
is outside my living room, it's kind of like a home office , I guess.

I use wordpad, we have word, but it inoperational right now.

I can write almost anywhere. And I do mean anywhere. Once, I wrote a poem in the girls restroom at school when some of my friends were in there getting dressed for a play and I was there so they had someone to talk to. But I tend to write out on my roof or in my bedroom. It's much more relaxing.

I used to write on my bed with my laptop on my lap but it gets too hot now. Also I read an article that the heat from the computer may have affects on people's sperm so now I am paranoid about that.
