I don't really like to read books with big words in them even though I'm usually perfectly capable of figuring out what they mean. It just annoys me and makes me think too much. Don't go back and change words to make them fancier, especially if since you've already gotten your point across. Only go back if it's an intellectual character's dialog speaking like a two year old or something.
