Common Question

I haven't been here in a while so I decided to
come back and ask a question.
This is question is probably a little Cliche but here it goes:

Whenever I come up with a story Idea I usually
lose intrest once I come in contact with something
else (Read another story, Watch a movie) and I
guess I just lose motivation.

Does anyone have an suggestions/tips/advice
that could help me over come this?

Lock yourself in a room. Don't watch TV unless it's news. Don't read books in the genre you're writing for. Think about your story all the time. Think about the characters in your story when you're commuting or stuck in a car. Write down your ideas or carry a voice recorder.

I agree with Ajax.

I find that when I lose interest in my story (and geez, does it happen often! Pitfalls of being 18 I guess!), it's best to just cut myself off from everything.

Cell goes on vibrate, headphones turned up and everything else is off.

If you sit infront of the computer screen for long enough, something's bound to come.

Good luck!

Write down all of your story ideas and find one that suits you best. Then begin writing, all the while taking the advice of the above posts, secluding yourself from the world.

Though I seemed to get a lot of inspiration for my novel after watching Revenge of the Sith...>_> heheh So whatever works for you.
