Novels are for suckers.

Out of curiosity, how many people here are working on a novel, or a similar 'big' project?

Novel

I am working on my third novel. It's part of a trilogy that I have been writing for three years now. The third novel is only into it's first five chapters. I still haven't had the nerve to go back and re-edit the first two.

I'm holding off from my hard-to-write novel to work on a screenplay----something that is much easier to accomplish, believe me......

I am; it started out as a short story, but I've developed enough ideas to make it into a short novel.

I am writing a speculative fiction novel that may be the first in a series but I am not quite sure yet because I cannot get beyond the first chapter. I also have a novella stuck in the planning stages. One of these days, I am going to have to relearn how to just write and not worry about anything else.

I have my oldest notes regarding my main project dating back to 1995, and I've been working with it periodically as I've started several other projects on the side - all strictly different in theme and currently 8 and counting. It is pure pain to force myself to focus working with one particular project, since I'm always writing down ideas which usually are more of other topics than the one at hand.

Though torn, I am confident, enthusiasted, and often surprised. A torture I love to hate

I'm currently writing a novel, though I have no idea where I'm going with it. That's usually a big no-no for me, since I don't like to write without an overall vision on how it's going to turn out - but I was being lazy, and just started to write, and i'm still writing, so there's no point in stopping.

I'm working on several pieces, but I never think of my work as 'novels.' I think of them as stories, really.

I wrote one in my mind, and mailed it out in my mind. But then the publisher in my mind rejected it, and I'm in the rewrite phase. Mind you, I liked it as it was. Damned publishers!

I was working on one...until I found this site. This forum is evil...instead of working on my writing I have been reading the posts, chillin' in the lounge, etc. I. Need. Help. An intervention, perhaps? Hopefully, I'll get cracking soon.
