I use 'very' too much. Sometimes just too. A good thing about most word processing programs, like word, is you can set it to remove the word as you go.

You can even set it to highlight all the incidences of a particular word in the version I use

mine is "said" and for some reason i just can't stop my characters from saying "Are you alright?" or "You alright?" YES THEY'RE FINE! NOW SHUT UP! okies i got that off my chest at least.

I am not only haunted by specific words, I am haunted by authors. Not long ago it was Edna St. Vincent Millay who wouldn't leave me alone.....

Now I notice other writers "word haunting".... perhaps this is why I am so enamored of the thesaurus?!
