Promotion and getting noticed?!!
Hello everyone ,
Glad to be among you here
Anyway, I'm an aspiring writer and I've been writing poetry and stories for so long. My first serial story is now published online and I was wondering what I can do to be recognized, noticed, have more readers to read and even subscribe to my story, get more attention?
I've been emailing friends, actively posting messages on writing boards, forums...but it doesn't seem to help much!
I wonder what else I can do ( but for free as I'm broke!) Any ideas, suggestions, advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you and keep writing!

Do you have a website? It would be a very easy way for you to promote your writing and it can be free too.

Hmmm ... I don't have a personal website exactly. I mean I have a writer's profile at writers.net and writing.com
My story is published on a website, yes and it has its very own link, can that do?

There are plenty of places that provide free web hosting. Go to Goodle and try "free web hosting" and see what comes up.

If you had a personal website you could add links to the things you just mentioned, keep people updated on the progress of various works, announce each time you are published so everyone can check it out, and just about anything else you can think of. Once your website is finished, you can submit it to search engines, like Yahoo, and eventually get your writing noticed more.
I am busy learning the basics of HTML and so far, it has been pretty easy. With a little effort on your part, you could have a simple website up quickly.

Edit: Definitely do as Talia_Brie suggested. A search on free web hosting can yield very satisfying results. Some of them offer free tools that make it easy to create websites.

the easiest thing you can do is add a link to your posts as a signature... like mine below...
hugs, maia

Go to http://www.lulu.com/pp-lm there is advice there for free download. Also, check out the blogs. there is a sticky or two on the poetry forum about promotion.
A website is important. you can list on any number of search engines free, and can link to your website.

You know I agree with mammamia, you should put your link as a signature and by that many people would see it. Also, why don't you post it here? I mean we can all read it... and give us the link (I don't know if you have already gave out) to your stories and stuff, I’m sure it's good, and who knows, maybe I’ll tell my friends and then my friends would tell their friends and so on…

Thank you for all your kind posts!
I already know about the importance of signatures *grin* and adding it at the end of your emails/posts can surely help out!
Hey, I already posted a link to my story (for all of you interested in reading it) at the links and ads board here. The name of my serial story is "A life of my own"
Thanx Hakeem for your words, check my story out and tell me what you think (the first issue is free at the site!) and may be your friends can check it out too!
