Oracle is an unknown quantity at this point
I find that pen sparks my imagination, and computers just make everything seem so bland. I use a pen for my planning, notes, small selections, and maps. I'm writing a fantasy series, so it'd be highly difficult to do my planning on a computer, since I've got alot of maps, diagrams, and even sketches to help me visualize my world.

I use the computer for compiling my work into a solid piece of writing. The computer is easily the most efficient for that. It allows for easy editing.

I just couldn't ever imagine myself using a computer for the planning though.

I use my computer for most things. The general writing of the peice of the storyline planning. but I usually draw things (maps, character concept sketches etc.,) By hand and scan them onto the computer.

I used to use the computer and then print it out and go through by hand making notes and then go back to the computer and edit. The reading and note making part was great but sitting down and scrolling around to find the spot to put in the word change or add the comma was horrible so I write and edit on my laptop. We've got a wireless network in my house so I can write anywhere and go online, connect to other machines etc... so it very convenient.

But its funny, when I write poetry, I use paper and a fine point marker (I don't have to press down) I need to see it all at once when I write poetry, all the previous drafts, scratch outs, re-writes because I find that I go back to it, I'm like a trash picker. Things that didn't work three drafts ago may work (or at least inspire) the draft I have now. I guess its as others have said, the methods that match the creative processes of the individual are the ones to use.

Does anyone have anything different or strange that they do? Come on, you know you want to tell us.

On second thought, if you write with chicken blood or something maybe its better if you kept that to yourself. Anything that won't give me nightmares?

PS: do I have to use a smiley if I'm making a joke?

As far as speed is concerned, im much quicker with a pen than a keyboard. I've always been a quick writer, although i sacrificed any semblence of decent handwriting long ago. I use both for different things. If im writing a longish piece, like a story, i'll use my laptop, because i can take it somewhere where there's peace, and i dont have to worry losing it. But anything else, i'll just scribble it down on paper. I just somehow prefer it. For some reason, i find it easier to manipulate and rearange on paper than on a computer. Probably my fondness for arrows and 'insert line 24' and things like that. I also find writing with a pen somehow more enjoable than typing

I can type faster than I can write, seems to be the trend more and more nowadays!! Hence grammar and punctuation seem to get worse.
