Advice from the Funky Fish.

Ok...people say I'm wierd, odd, very wierd, lazy, and did I mention wierd? Well, damnit, yes...I AM wierd. But that's what keeps me original, my friends. It keeps my ideas original, too! So...here's my one piece of advice...

When your stuck writing a part of your story involving a certain character...here's what ya do; try imagining you ARE the character! Try to BE the character! Speak a few lines, walk around, or do something else as if you WERE the character! I do it all the time, even if I'm not stuck, and just wanna get more into the mind of the character. One time my mom even walked into my room just as I yelled out, in an arab voice, "YOU CAN NOT MILK A BLOODY DAMN CAMEL!!!" Kodak moment right there, lady's and gentlemen.

Anyways...it's not much, but that's my advice. Try it....it can be a LOT of fun!

I think that is very good advice. In fact, along those lines I am signing up for an acting class this fall. I think it will give me good ideas on how to understand my characters.

I actually do that, quite a lot. It's very handy to keep ideas going when you're stuck somewhere where your pen and paper aren't within arms reach. Like the car.

Oh....here's some more advice. Again, not much, but...meh. This is concerning naming your own Races.

Here's an example. This is a list of sub-races of one of the races of my series.

Main Race: Inanimar

Sub-Races: Snomarn, Mechanor, Garganits, Slimerks, Pereffts, Narcneets, Yiplaths, Nognars, Rimaltes, and Quimpetens.

They look original, don't they? Heh...not really, actually. First thing ya gotta do is think of what the race might be or look like. So....let's say your thinking of a race based on bodily organs.

Organs = ?!?!?

So...now what do ya do? Well....I'll give ya the answer.

Organs = Nognar

See what I did? I switched the letters around a little. On some, I even took out letters of the thing I had in my head and made the name from the ones remaining.

Yiplaths = Playthings.

And then...ya can always add letters...or come up with somethin original yourself.

Snowmarn = Snowmen.

Slimerks = Oily substances.

So...that's my advice. Now for a challenge...see if ya can figure out the remaining sub-races identitys
