LOL! I don't know about Michael Jackson, but I love to listen to music while I write. Or do dishes, or laundry, or whatnot... I tend to enjoy listening to 80s pop when I'm doing anything active, but I like The Beatles or Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, Harry Nilsson, etc when I write.

I love listening to music, but I find that I never get much written while I'm listening to music... it's a bit of a distraction ... uh... I think I might turn the music off now, maybe then I'll be able to write .

Music has inspired many of the stories I have written. However, I find that like Emma LB, I'm not usually able to get much writing done if music is playing in the background. It's usually the lyrics that strike me the most and provide the most inspiration. I have even based stories off of songs that have moved me.

I really don't care. Music doesn't help, nor hinder my writing. It isn't even distracting, unless it's a song that I love singing along too, because then I have to stop mid-writing just to sing.

I find that listening to radioioECLECTIC helps me to relax and let the words flow.

Sometimes when I listen to the radio I get inspiration or character development from song lyrics...

but usually music in the background is just there to make things sound pretty

I think some good music would be Final Fantasy (Nobuo!)

Also, one cannot go wrong with the overplayed classics...

Prelude in C# Minor...
Revolutionary Etude...

Etc.!

Anything that inspires without demanding your attention

Listening to music while I write helps me concentrate. My mind wanders too easily if I don't have anything playing in the background for it to entertain itself with while I write.
