Why should I trust you?!

Really? I'm only gonna ask this one time, and then after being logically convinced, forget about it. How can I be sure that if I post my material on the site that no body can take it? I mean, cause I dont think everyone is really nice and friendly and----not evil. Convince me, please, because I would like to post my story.

Geez, everyone's asking this question lately (see Vanessa, this is why I don't like PMs. I hate making the same points twice).

There's a couple of threads in the resource forum dealing with copyrighting and stealing from internet posts. Check those out.

Vanessa: post my PM in this thread if you still have it.

I can see why you didn't get into politics Airborne. Though if you're serious about being a cop in Denver, I don't think you'll have a choice.

What do you mean? It can't be worse than NY.

I guess it depends on where you wind up in Denver. If you're in the rich part of Denver, I heard the games you have to play are ridiculous. It's almost impossible to do any actual police work.

You are thinking about the suburbs, not covered by Denver PD, they have their own departments.

You're not JK Rowling (as far as we know *shifty eyes*), so rest assured that nobody is going to be stealing your stuff.

write it down first on paper and mail it to yourself. leave the letter sealed and that basically copyrights it for you! then you have proof if someone ever trys to steal your work, that it is indeed YOUR work! thats what i do for most of my stuffs.

I can't assure you that people won't try to steal your work or ideas, but if they do you can sue them. This forum's database can be used as evidence, and the automatic copyright law would be in effect. If you posted the idea/story before they got it published/posted/copyrighted, then you can sue them, as your automatic copyright would be in effect before their's.

Any writer who steals another writer's work is risking their reputation as well as being sued. Also, people usually don't post their best work, because if they don't need help with it, why post it here asking for advice? And they usually only post a small portion of their work, so there really isn't much to streal, anyway.

So there really isn't an advantage to stealing someone else's work off these forums. I wouldn't worry about it.
