Emma: got a little crush on Che? Glad to see I ... er, Che's got an admirer.

Mentair: No problem. But never do it again.

Sully: Eh. Koufax is no Pedro.

Thats right. Koufax is twice the pitcher that Pedro will ever be.

Uh... what ever... Can we talk about revolutionaries again instead of baseball players?

Actually I just started a sports thread in the lounge, since this is the second straight day that I've argued sports with somebody.

Emma: Revolutionaries await you in the Political Thread. You seem to come from a very political background (based on your post in the 'Must Read' thread), so you might find it interesting.

You can't actually sue someone for stealing an idea can you?

Don't want to open a debate about intellectual property either...

Ideas are creative property, so yeah, you can sue them. The trouble is proving you came up with the idea first.

I'd say if it's good enough to steal, then you don't need to post it.

Yeah, most people don't bother to make sure that there is concrete evidence that they had the idea first. Nobody ever figures that it would get stolen, and I think that the whole, work getting stolen topic is getting blown out of proportion. There are like 10 different threads on it. I highly doubt that many people here have ever had anything of work stolen. I do recall something baout some guy who copyrighted a word, but that can easily be changed.

Wow, talk about egos. I mean, is your story really so good that you're paranoid about somebody stealing it? And if they did steal it, what's the worst that could happen- is it good enough for a poetential theif to take value from it's credit and make money off it?

Don't worry about the plagarists. It always catches up to them in the end anyways.

I think the main point here is simply that if a person decides in the future to try to get something published, it would be bad if someone stole their work/ideas and beat them to it.

I don't personally think that anyone would want to steal my stories. While I am quite fond of them (they're mine after all), I really can't see anyone else liking them enough to claim them as their own. Still, it's something to consider, seeing as how we really don't know one another.

If you're worried about it, I suggest posting only sections of your work. And that trick of mailing it to yourself is a good one as well.

In any case, I think we're all busy enough with our OWN writing that we don't have time to try to steal and then further develop someone else's ideas. [/i]

They might not want to steal the story in particular, but the idea. I put more work into my plot than anything else. My storylines are unlike anything I've ever seen. And I dont plan on seing them anywhere else---unless my name is on it. Yeah, you might say I have a big ego or something, but I need it, so I can protect my work.

If your work is that mind staggeringly original then you ought to be getting hold of an agent or a publisher and not posting it here.

Are the ideas good. Yes. Is the writing good enough to match? Thats what I'm not sure of. I write well, but I think I need some work in spots.

You need to work on some spots, which brings us back to why you should post here.
