Help
Well like the actual writing process, how to find a reputable agent, self-publishing, things like that. I guess I don't know what i'm talking about right now but i'll figure it out.

Start writing
Bill, just start putting your work on here, under the appropriate category and you'll start getting feedback. Also the best advice I ever got here was to read, read, read other peoples work. It is true that you will learn, be inspired to write your own stuff and see what it is to write. all the best and my regards to you, huni.

Thank you again I've already posted a sample chapter earlier this evening... I am planning on posting more of my story...

In general it's much better to make questions and advice on the forum rather than through private messages, because that way everyone can benefit from the answers.
You were asking for advice about agents...? First call, I would read this web page: click link. Loads of good, sound advice there, aimed exactly at people in your position (ie new writers who aren't sure how the agent system even works).
Enjoy
