I was wondering if anyone could help me out here. I was wondering to any males out here, could you please give me your opinion on this. If you were to read this, would it be believable~:~:~:


{A father is in the bathroom, shaving or brushing his teethin the morning. His son, about 14 years old, knocks on the door and yells out to him that he needs in. He says something like, "I gotta piss a waterfall, hurry up!" The father tells him to come in and allows him to use the toilet, while he still uses the sink for whatever reason.}


Does this happen or is it no big deal? Just wondering...and another thing, my main point in characters here were actually John Lennon and his son, Julian.

I can't tell you whether it's normal or not, as I only have my own experience to go by, which didn't include many situations like that as we had a second bathroom.

Come to think of it, I'd just be suprised if John Lennon lived in a house with only one bathroom.

Just one other thought - be very careful of using real people in fictional scenarios like this. It can lead to trouble.

Yes, I will remember that. I wasn't really too sure about this, this thought just came up to me. Since I'm not a guy, I have no idea how a father and a son would act around each other.

If in another case, this kid was hungover or something, do you think a typical father would be there to scold him or help him to his bed?

If my son was hungover and he was still a child; he would not see sunlight till he is 18.

It happens, sure. But in other places. I'm certainly not one who can attest to doing that, except maybe when I was 5 or 6. At 14, no way. At least, not for me.

I mean, even if your son was completely hungover and REALLY sick, would you at least help him find a place to throw up? Or, actually, maybe your step-daughter or something like that?


Someone like John Lennon, I was thinking, might have a little ounce of sympathy because he was in that place many times.

The first thing of course would be tomake sure that they are going to be well, but that wouldnt alleviate the consequences of their actions.

My problem when writing about these things is that I never know how much description and detail is needed. I honestly, could go on and on with just about anything, including a scene where a character is either sick or has to pee. For the reader, though, how much do you want to know?
