Okay- I have been writing a Pirates of the Caribbean fanfiction (which you can read by going to my website), and while I would like to finish it, I'm losing interest- I haven't updated in two months...

Any suggestions??

Here's my suggestion:

Make yourself write it daily. It doesn't matter if it's 100 words or 1000 words, just set a goal (for example 100 words a day which isn't too much). After a while you'll see if you'll be interested in writing it again or not. Even if you aren't, this way you will still eventually finish your fanfic.

I have succesfully written a whole novel by making myself to write over 1000 words a day. What suprised me was that even when I didn't feel like writing I still managed to get good text written. There is a small real-time editor in all of us, so just write that 100 words a day, your self-critisism makes sure that it's quality text. Good luck!

Kelhanion has a point. Just push yourself to finish. Use it as a writing exercise, an excuse to goof off, an excuse to watch the movie, whatever. (hopefully watching themovie might reinspire you). For fanfictions, that's the best approach.

For my novel, I've been trying type 2000 words a day, and I must say sometimes I don't feel like it. But everytime I read a book or as I'm sitting in class my head is buzzing with ideas for new charecters and subplots, it keeps me interested.

I agree; as long as you are writing something your interest should be perked again. Maybe the fact that you have not updated your story in the past two months is the reason you are loosing interest. Maybe by just sitting down and writing again your interest will be sparked. Good luck to you! Let us know how it is going!
