Distances and campaigns

I think this is the right place to post this, but I’m not sure.
I’m currently writing a novel and I’m having problems with scale. It involves a lot of journeying and wars, and things need to happen at the right time (right season/moon phase etc.) I’m having some trouble finding out things such as how long it takes to travel certain distances etc. I would need general information such as how long it would take an able rider to travel x distance across plains, forest, mountains, how long it would take the average army of x number made up of infantry, cavalry, information on supply trains, how much food people eat, how many horses/wagons that amount of food will need to transport it and stuff like that. I’m not sure where to find this, so if anyone knows any of this information, or can suggest a good website or book or something I would be very thankful

I'm writing an epic fantasy novel with similar problems... I'm not sure of your period but I've used the following research materials:
Arms & Armour in the Middle Ages
The Devil's Horsemen

The former is very dry but very good on how difficult it is to
equip and move a large army. The later is a great (though gruesome)
read on the fast moving Mongolian horsemen and how a
lightly armoured mounted force can travel great distances at
speed.

How fast you can move really depends on armour and how often
you can change horses. I've seen accounts of messenger riders
going 120 miles in a day swapping horses regularly, while even
a larger army of mounted troops generally carry multiple horses
per rider for speed.

Infantry can really slow things down. A heavily laden US Marine
can travel 25 miles per day with full pack (a generalization
of course).
