Joining a writers circle is great advice. You immediately have an audience of fellow writers, all with their contacts to spread the knowledge base even further, a ready pool of avid readers to appraise your work, it seems to me that that is exactly what you're looking for, far better than my lone cowboy suggestion.

If you write fiction, ask plenty of pple to review your work. As one editor once said to me when I asked her to review my work: in fiction, one man's meat is another man's poison; it all depends on their personal taste.
However, if you want to write a bestseller, then at the very least the majority of the pple you've asked to review your book should like it. Otherwise, it's unlikely to become the next Harry Potter or Da Vinci Code.
And don't forget, family and friends tend to be really nice about feedback. If strangers tell you WOW! you know you have something on your hands.
