Do You Script to Scene

Hey guys,

I don't know if anyone else does this but whenever I write a story or novel I always do scripts to scenes. I plan out the script and then I write out the scene and this gives me a sort of guideline to what I'm writing so I'm not overwhelmed by the blank screen in front of me or wondering to myself how best to start. It also kills any writer's block.

So, I decided to write an article on it. It is pretty long. I imagine most of you could probably skip the first part and go straight to the Outlining and then to Scripts to Scenes.

Check it out, guys:

Writing a Novel the Easy Way

Any comments you guys may have on it can either be posted here in the thread or directly in the article under comments. I wouldn't mind getting your feedback on this whole "scripts to scenes". I'd like to know if anyone else does it besides me.

I just write out the basic idea of what should be happening in each chapter. I find anything too detailed to be constraining, because the story can often change in tone and direction as the writing progresses.

I totally agree. When I do use scripts though, they leave a lot open for those moments in writing when things do change. It's a very skeletal guideline. And I find that if your changes in tone and direction are too big it can ruin the whole story and you'll have to start from scratch. And God, do I hate when that happens. I'm the type of person who likes to have everything organized and set in a neat little package. Plus, it helps me--figured it could help others.

thanks for the reply

Thanks JHB. That is--if you are not being sarcastic.

Well, you could always read the part of the article under Scripts to Scenes to find out. It's just something I use to help me get rid of writer's block and keep me writing on a steady pace. It's helpful for me, so I thought I'd share it and see if anyone else does something similar.
