    Writing Forums Guide

First, I want to take the opportunity to welcome you to WritingForums.com. The goal of this post is to teach you how to get the most out of your Writing Forums experience.

Sadly, because of spammers, we've had to put certain restrictions on new members. You will need to have made 10 posts before you will be able to use visitor messaging, signatures or to post blogs. We also discourage newcomers promoting their projects until they have become active on the forums so that they will not be mistaken for spammers.

If you are new to the site there are several places you will want to visit at least once:
    • First and foremost you will want to check out the Rules and Guidelines and Site Policies We are pretty laid back around here as far as rules go, but some rules are necessary to ensure the site runs smoothly. This is particularly important because we've found it necessary to adopt measures to prevent spam. A few minutes spent reading will help to ensure there are no misunderstandings and that newcomers are not dealt with as spammers.
    • If you are new to vBulletin or forums in general then you will want to check out the FAQ. This should answer most of your questions about how to navigate the site and add to the discussions.
    • Do you have a question about something? Chances are that it has been asked before. You can use the site's search feature to search for threads that may contain the answers you're looking for.
    • We have a team of Moderators here whose job it is to enforce the forum's rules. They have the power to delete posts that break the rules. We prefer to work with the users though so don't be afraid to approach them if you have a problem.
    • If you are looking for feedback on your work you may want to check out the Getting Comments on Your Posts thread. Another good thread for this is The art of the Thread Title.
    • You should also remember that to get Critiques on your own work you need to give Critiques to others. With that in mind read the Reviewers' Handbook.
    • Are you having trouble with your writing? Then you'll want to take a look at the Writing Discussion.

Now what are you still doing here? Get out there and start posting.

Special thanks to Spudley whose original welcome thread provided the inspiration for this post.
