    super "bull"- (adult themes)

Call to arms, this patriotic duty.
Ape-scratch ointment, pinch you wife's booty.
Time for the annual fun to begin.
The loudmouthed civil, neander on in.

Fric-a-cide, pick-a-side, time for you to choose.
Potato chip, corn chip, bowl a green goo.
Blowin' chunks of salsa and bar-b-que, too.

Down the wife, smart off to the brew.
    Black, white, red and yellow,
    green and blue.
All mixed up in the 'Merican stew.

Flat screen, fat screen, bloody lipped wife.
Let's all cheer for the marital strife.

    did u mean meander?

i enjoyed how you captured each moment....super bowl withdrawls?

id like to say that the stanzas flatter each other
but im guessing your wife is a giants fan and your not

Down the wife, smart off to the brew

this line i think needs something more
its too jagged and edgy for me to put a finger on

other than that the end was mind blowing huh?

    cool stuff

social commentary, maybe a little too preachy ("statistically, more reports of domestic abuse happen during...blah, blah..superbowl weekend..)

homoneanderthalensis, the original caveman ('o.c.' instead of 'o.g.'? ha!)

kind of elementary gimmick, like 'bassackwards'- switch wife for brew in each phrase. I didn't like it so much either. What do they say? post or die..so i posted what i had.

    thanks

p.s.- i was thinkin' this could pass for "lyrics." Now, if I could just write music...

Okay, until I read the comments, I thought this was an English pub type theme, since the language was more British in my opinion. (i also read it as meander). Also, calling it an American stew reinforced that. After all, what we call Chinese food, in China would be known as just food, right?

I was trying to figure out whether this was about a drunken party, but the marital strife thing just made it more difficult to decipher. After realizing it was about the Superbowl, I had to subtract about 80 IQ points from the level of complexity I was looking for, and re-read it as if I were some overweight fan stuffing nachos and beer down his gullet, and somehow trying to rationalize beating up the wife in all of this. I then tried to re-read this as if it were some kind of middle class cheer being chanted through mouthfuls of pizza with beer spilled everywhere, not to mention neglected kids with soiled diapers watching from behind the staircase banister.

I'd give this 1 1/2 stars, but then need to subtract a star for making light of spousal abuse. Please tell me the kids were properly cared for.

half a star! dam...you know, as an American, i feel like it's my right(and great priveledge)to be able to self criticize. About the only sport I watch is boxing, but, having grown up in this(my) culture, I know a little something about it, including the superbowl.
I think your 'fat-asses-swilling pizza etc'. is pretty acurate. The image of soiled kids didn't occur to me, but that's a good point. I never understood "wife beating" myself. I find it offensive. I didn't post it under "humour" although we(people) can be quite comical, in a sad way.
I guess you hate the content. So, whad'you think of the rhyme/rhythem? It did seem like a chant(cheer?) to me, too (RAH, RAH, RAH. sis'boom bah!) That just sort of evolved as I went, so I went with it.

I've already told you that this made me laugh, Kev, because I took it as a parody. Of course, there's nothing funny about spousal abuse, it's one of the horrible injustices I pounce upon immediately and I've written more than one serious piece on the subject. To me, this about the primitive state in fans, men or women, that comes into being during sporting events, especially the culminating ones at season's end. I loved neander, caught that right away, as well as fat screen. I've been in the way of a certain person's view enough times to get that one, too. I still like this piece very much, it's clever.

    Best,
    Lisa

    Oh, I'm guilty,too.

she: "Oh, gawd, not that barbarian boxing, again. How can watch that? Look at his nose..."

me: "...ooh, ooh, ooh, ahh, aah, aahhh-ahh! (chimpanzee noises)"
