    2012 WF 10th Anniversary Challenge

To mark the 10th Anniversary of WF in December we are holding a special anniversary challenge. There will be a $10.00 fee* to enter, which will be put into a pot. This will be divided proportionately among the top three winning entries in each category (poetry and fiction).

The theme for this Challenge is "Ten Years".

The closing date for submissions will be 15th November 2012. The winning entries will be decided by a poll.

All entries must conform to the site's PG13 policy.

In addition to the cash prize, the top three entries will be published in Motley Press.**

You may subscribe to enter the challenge here. Be sure to choose the "Anniversary Challenge" option.

Discussion threads have been started on the challenge forum, which is accessible when you subscribe. Once the entry subscription is paid, entrants will also have all WF Veteran privileges, which include access to the Tavern and the Chat Rooms.

*This fee is not refundable so please be sure you intend to enter the challenge before you subscribe.
**Work which includes bad language will not be eligible for publication.

Is there a word limit for the fiction entries?
    Everything I know about writing I learned from my golden retriever;

    1. Try to do everything with class
    2. Always be honest, even when it will get you into trouble
    3. Play, play, play
    4. Nap frequently

3,000 words is the maximum. There's no minimum so flash fiction is acceptable.

With the word limit set at 3000 and the submission deadline set for mid-November, has any thought been given to how much time will be available for reading all entries before casting votes? Just thinking that 25 entries at 3000 words is a lot of reading and people won't read all of the stories if there isn't enough time.

    Just a thought...

I was thinking maybe around a month to cast votes... That's up to the Captain, though.
“The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream. The oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs. Dreams are the seedlings of realities.” ~ James Allen

Once people start posting entries the forum will be open so that non-entrants can view it. What you suggest might be an issue if everyone leaves it until the last minute. It would be even more of an issue if we had a small number of people judging rather than having it open to members to vote on the entries. If people start to post early then there is a five month period for stories to be read.
