Wf is growing and we have quite a few new members, not all of them have read the rules and guidelines and staff are not always on top of everything (though we try).

Along the bottom bar you will see a triangle with an exclamation mark in it, hold your cursor over it and it will say "report post". If you see anything you think we might have missed or should look at please click on it to draw our attention, thank you.

I realise that, when you see something you consider wrong on the boards, you're much happier to respond by making a public show and de-railing threads. I'd advise that reporting posts is a better option for helping to maintain this site as a pleasant experience for all. After all, repeatedly derailing threads (the web equivalent of bar-room brawling) can only lead to infractions, which are unpleasant for all concerned.

Any new members reading this thread, meet the Official Curmudgeon, one of the few live exhibits here. We wanted to have him stuffed but he wouldn't eat that many pancakes at once.

So someone posts something with adult content or strong language and doesn't put a warning on, so I put the warning on for them and send them a pm reminding them and they send me one back saying "sorry, I'll remember next time".

A question for you Ox, how does that sort of thing equate with hauling someone off to a death camp? All right that's extreme, you started with "snitches", but we moderate, we moderate the interactions between people, and to do it successfully we have to be moderate as well, the only punitive sanction is ostracism, banning, and we are trying to attract members and build the site so we are only likely to use that on people who are antisocial enough to drive others away, that's not snitching, that is working together to improve things. Of course if you can come up with a way of making it all run smoothly without me, and the rest of the staff, giving up any of our free time we would be glad to hear, in the meantime a little help and support might be handy sometimes.

Hey Ox, here's some trivia.

Mark French, the would-be Olympian cyclist, is a client of my Dad's. You might remember a few years ago, it was in the media, that a young cyclist took some banned substances and was kicked off the team and banned from cycling, and then he was called a rat and Un-Australian by the media because he explained he didn't know what he was taking, his teammates gave them to him.

That's the story as I understand it.

What matters is, he sued for defamation, and it took years, but my Dad won that case.

Don’t be so quick to pass judgement. Some individuals can quite comfortably wear different hats and also offer in-depth critiques to aspiring writers.
