    Automatic deletion in Work Shop

Its not working. I can still use the search function to find threads that are well over 45 days old.

The automatic thingy doesn't always work, so Selorian goes through and deletes the older stuff.

Right now it goes back to April 4th, so May the the 19th would be 45 days (or something close) so it seesm OK to me.

The other side of that is the search function. The search function will enable you to go back to day one of your or anyone elses postings.

    There is two schools of thought;

The first is you get in and edit your work, so many go in and delete their work leaving the word "delete" in the box.

The second school of thought is that by leaving your work up in the fashion archived online here, it protects you against plagiarism by having it posted somewhere to prove copyrights.

Of course, by having it up opens you to plagiarism in the first place.

No it doesn't, not always, only sometimes.

I neglected to save a topic I posted and wanted it again but a search produced no result.

Then I tried a search for a poster I knew had replied to the thread. Same thing. Nada.

Yes it does. I left out the case where a thread has to be moderated.

What are you talking about? What does that mean? I had two separate threads about the same story and the last time I looked no mod had been near either of them. There wasn't even a reason for either of them to be moderated.

So in other words all that is deleted is the link in the workshop?

Edit: As a test I tried to access other users work from the past in the workshop. I can still find work dated last year.

    I guess I deserved that.

I'm just trying to point out that its at odds with the message saying 'Posts are automatically removed 45 days after creation, so be sure to save all such material for future reference.' It implies that after 45 days the material will no longer be accessable on the forum. I posted under that assumption and am slightly annoyed to find out I'm wrong. Sure I can manually go through and edit out my posts, I don't mind doing that. But I think it should say so somewhere obvious.

    Did that make sense?

Troll-In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.[2]
It makes perfect sense to me. Yes, it moves the item to the trash. It doesn't delete the post or your post count would go down.

Some people worry about post count. In some forums it's a sign of longevity and activity.

But I hear you, that should be changed to be something closer to reality.
