Wtf is PG?
In the rules for this and other similar sites, what is PG? Parental Guidance makes no sense.

PG is a term adopted from movies, and it did originally mean "Parental Guidance", in that your parent had to be involved in the watching, somehow.(I'm sure you know this part.)
Now it just refers to content that is approximately equivalent to what would be admitted under a PG rating.

I suggest you look up movie ratings... just apply them to writing content.

I know what PG means in movie ratings.
What I don't understand is the rule here at WF that says "all posts must be PG". If we apply the movie ratings terminology, this means "all posts must be inappropriate for children".
Does that mean we are only allowed to post adult content? Nothing for general readership?
That makes no sense.
So, like I asked originally, what does it mean?

Come on, OX. PG is parental guidance recommended. Mild content, can be viewed by minors without being accompanied by an adult--it is not inappropriate for children. In fact, I think you'll find that most movies or TV shows aimed at children are PG.

You're all behaving like fuckwits.
The WF rule says "must be"
Add that "must be" to whatever definition of PG you're using, and see if you can make sense of it.

And same to you. Are you taking issue with 'PG', or with the 'must be' phrasing? If the former, you're incorrectly applying the terminology (PG material is not inappropriate for minors), and if the latter, you're being pedantic about a meaning which seems to be pretty clear for those who aren't trying to pick faults.

I am not being fucking pedantic. I am simply trying to understand this rule.
To my apparently twisted mind it says all posts must be inappropriate for children.
As you seem to think of yourself as able to understand it, how about you explain it to this apparent fuckwit in plain langauge.

Mate, you stir the pot so often it’s difficult to tell when you’re being serious. The rule, as it is written, means: don’t post anything that’s not suitable for the eyes of children. But, honestly, these rules were written a long time ago and what’s allowable has changed. I’m not going to remove your post above, even though ‘fucking’ wouldn’t make it for PG. These days, perhaps just try to refrain from being excessively vulgar in your posts. When posting work, what’s allowable is generally up to staff discretion. We do allow a lot, but we’ll remove something if we feel as though it’s gratuitously violent or sexual. If you feel that some of your content isn't suitable for young ones, we do ask that you put a disclaimer at the beginning of your post.

Even though the condom broke because He bought it the 7th grade, she's not pregnant.

NTO, I'll try to say this simply.
PG is a fairly average rating, and at this point in time, it's degraded from the original intent to imply minor-appropriate content(not five-year-old, more like teenager) to the general audience. It is used here to say that nothing may be above that general content rating, though as according to Besh, that restriction is much looser now.

Whence the expression: a pregnant pause.
Seriously, doesn't anybody say PG for knocked up anymore?

My mom does, but I thought it was just her.
