Web site availability
I've noticed that this website very often fails to resolve properly. I get a page not found when attempting to view the site on a rather large percentage of attempts.
In almost all cases I can still ping the site's IP address which means the server is online but it's simply not responding to http requests.
According to my tools the site is running on an Apache 2/Unix box with a PHP5/(some flavour of SQL) backend. This is about as stable of a web server configuration as you can get so I have to wonder if there is a network restriction or some other traffic bottleneck occurring.
Is the site simply so popular that concurrent connections are overloading the available upstream bandwidth? Is this a known issue and I've just wasted everyone's time?

Not a known issue, no.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Never. Since the last time it crashed and management changed their provider, the site has been running must faster and smoother than before. The only time I ever get a "page not found" error is when my internet connection drops. Did you check your network settings to make sure that hadn't happened, Velo?

I'm fairly certain it's not a network settings issue. I experience the same issues at home, at work, and on my web-enabled phone. Sometimes I get in, sometimes I don't.

I have never had such a problem. Every time I log in, everything works properly. Maybe you have some settings problems connected with your web browser? If you use the latest version of Opera, it can sometimes happens that you cannot load or find the site. Just press F5 and it should work again

Happens in FF, Opera, Safari for WinBlows and iPhone, and IE. I can browse to other web sites just fine whilst this site is unreachable.

I haven't noticed any issues at all for ages.

I sometimes have the same problem with a 'page not found.' I don't really take much notice of it since a refresh solves it.

I haven't had any problems since the site when down last. Actually, I think it's been running wonderfully since then.

It used to happen to me when I used my parent's PC with IE. Hasn't happened to me since I switched to Linux/Swiftweasel.

I haven't had that happen.
There have been a few times, however, where I've been unable to access this site from my home computer but can from my office. It's different wording (Database Error), but perhaps a similar issue? Technical stuff goes beyond my territory once we're beyond coding.

Yes, well today for the first time I got a 'database error'. I think it may have been at my end. I thought my office blocked it at first. But later when I came back, I had access again.

Since the site changed servers, I've had problems getting in. Actually, more often than not, I can not get through and just give up after fifteen minutes.
I was sure it was on my side since no one else has complained but I've gone through dozens of fixes without any improvement. Tonight, I got through immediately so go guess.

Actually that's a server side issue and there is a problem with the database itself or the local ODBC connection. If you can't actually get a response to your URL query you will get a "page not found" error.
