Being Banned

Question for management: on what basis are members banned? Also, is the ban on said member indefinate?

It takes a lot to get permanently banned from this site, though some have managed to do it. Generally, the person is temporarily banned for an unspecified period of time (until the admins decide to allow him back; if they decide). You usually have to continuously post rude remarks, or just generally make a nuisance of yourself all the time without contributing anything beneficial, before you receive either a temporary or permanent ban. Why do you ask?

Sam.

I saw about three or four banned persons so I was just curious. It kinda had me on my toes a little about my posts. I mean I don't post rude comments or anything like that, I just feel like I'm walking on ice a little. Know what I mean?

Yes. We're watching you.

Nobody gets banned, temp or permanent, without having had several warnings.

That's why they're called "moderators," Wildcard. They constantly check every post for anything untoward.

Hey, Wildcard, if you're worried go to the rules page and give it a good read.

It gets pretty obvious after a while.

Just look down at the bottom of your screen and you'll see that there's a moderator (the guys in orange) present at almost every hour of the day. Some I haven't seen at all since joining. Maybe they've left? I would have thought management would have freshened it up if that was the case, but there are some moderators I've never seen online. Don't get me wrong - of course they have lives, as do all the mods, mentors and members.

On a side note - you never want to see anyone get banned, but sometimes (and I won't name names because everyone probably knows who I'm talking about) it becomes necessary. Let's just hope those other trolls there might have been on this site have learned a lesson from that.

Sam.

I only know of two people that have been banned since I arrived. And I'm not all that sorry to see either of them go, really

If you double post or wish to delete a post for some other reason you can do it using the edit button at the bottom of the page.
Sam always makes us sound super efficient, in fact we rely greatly on the "head up's" that we get from the ordinary members, we are always grateful for a pointer that stops something bad.

The way you just go charging in on any number of topics as if you’re the Oracle at Delphi . . . .

You just make it up.

Perhaps, if you knew how ludicrous it makes you appear, you wouldn’t do it.

Fine, Ox. Go ask management if what I said was true. It does take a lot to get permanently banned. Just take a look at TT. It is the administrators who decide when someone is banned. And they usually let them back whenever they feel like it.

Sam.

Ok, where did you get that "unspecified period of time" from? Pure invention, I say.
