Hypothetically speaking if I were to get banned for being a butt-head of sorts could I find out the reasons why specifically? I know I would get multiple warnings but could I find out the name of the straw and the specific camel that did me in?

That's kind of a strange (and suspicious? ) question, but yes. If you were banned, you would know why. Not only would you have gotten multiple warnings about your behavior (which would detail the straws on the various camels), but since we don't like to ban people around here, we tell the offender what we'd like them to stop doing several times before even considering a ban. It's only when a person carries on causing trouble that they eventually get banned.

Too much of this kind of talk.

As stated above, a ban happens only after numerous warnings have been made and ignored. Once a ban is given, the user can still log in as normal but will only see a page with a message informing them they have been banned, the reason for the ban, and the date the ban will expire. So the person being banned will always be aware of the reason why they have been banned.

We all make mistakes. And sometimes, when there's a super-secret-super-duper-secret policy on moderation, it seems like certain people don't think they make them. That's quite far from the truth.

I was simultaneously banned from two videogame forums. But my fellow writers would never ban me.

You can also be banned for having giant, distracting signature images.

I used to have a huge one; my current one's more modest.

Jeez...If JB ever makes mod, all signatures will be reduced to microscopic sizes.
