can we have a section for picture-description?
Hello. One of my favorite writing games is where a person posts a picture, with its own thread for writers to describe the picture. Each picture should have its own thread, otherwise everything would get sloppy. Maybe a new section, just for this game, would stimulate some more creativity. Other sites have had much success with this game. I think it would be nice to be able to post my favorite pictures, and see what kinds of poems and stories they inspire from all these talented writers
Writers are naturally smarter than other people. I'm sure you'll see the value of such a suggestion. I'd say in between the word game section and the gallery section would be the best place for this, seeing how it would be a combination of the two processes.
Has anyone else ever played that game? Dont you think it would be a nice addition here? And, it couldn't possibly make this site run any slower, thats for sure.
Hope this gets some attention, or at least a curt negative response, for that matter.
Cheers

let me be more precise. Can we have a section in which average people like myself can post a picture, without graduate degrees in computer programming?

you don't need a degree -
if you can't upload directly from your computer,
then you need a free online image host -
upload your images to your free account ...
the image host provides the necessary codes to post
in various sites ...
copy&paste straight into the textbox, and ignore the "insert image" icon ...
do a preview to make sure you used the right code,
and the host server managed to transfer the image ...
no drama ...

well, now I can post pictures on a thread, but all that happens is a link to the picture, not the picture itself.
how do I get it to be a picture, and not a link?
and, who would like to play that game, anyway?

put the image link inside {img} {/img} tags (use [ instead of {)
Like so:
Now. describe to your heart's content!

what the hell are you talking about?
where do I put the image, and how? do I use that stupid pop-up window for mis-managing attachment? How do I copy it?
god I am so confused.

Aha! Easy peasy, Nacreous. Access the image you want, and then right click on it. You'll see a option called "copy image location". Do that. Then paste it here. It will do it in link form, i.e. www.blahblahblah". Now, at the start of the link open a bracket like this [ and then type in "img." Now close the bracket ] and go to the end of the link. Open another bracket [ and type in /img and close the bracket ]. Your picture will now show. Simple.
Sam.

Nacreous, try this. You said you had a link so have that link copied and ready to paste, ok?
Now, when you pull up a reply box you get a little toolbar of buttons above where you type in your message. One of these buttons is yellow and has a little mountain on it. If you scroll over it it says, 'Insert Image'. Click it.
A small dialogue box will pop up with a field for you to paste the link. Paste it in there and hit ok.
If that doesn't do it tell us and we'll talk about links, ok?
