It's the price we pay for good times and interesting people. BTW, I usually have about three other things going on (usually my current project, grading papers, etc) and I dive into them during the slow times.

It got faster for me after my last post on this thread and now they are slower again. I wish I had some web knowledge to account for it but alas, I don't.

That's fair comment, but would it speed things up? I was trying to post last evening when suddenly Explorer lost the connection and I wasn't able to get back on this site again until this morning. It's ordinarily slow, but yesterday was the most severe case I have experienced.

Yes, this site is very slow. I agree it is distracting. We are a society that hates to wait, aren't we?

The site seems slower in the evenings and that is frustrating as well as distracting!

And I thought that's what those links at the bottom of each page were for. Adrian, how much has the site speed increased since you contributed? Leaps and bounds, I'd imagine.
Sarcasm aside, I'm sure this site can't earn much profit, and I appreciate being able to enjoy it for free.
Internet Explorer is a total slug. I'm surprised anyone still uses it. Well, I guess it's not that surprising since every windows OS comes with it as default, and most people don't care to look far beyond that.
As mentioned earlier, great increases in internet efficiency will be met by switching to Opera or Firefox browser. They're both free. Fasterfox is a Firefox addon that will theoretically boost the speed even further. I'd recommend exploring those options for this site and any other web surfing.
I'm on Linux, and have the benefit of my browser being custom designed for my computers specs and internet connection. This site is still slow, but not impossibly so like it is if I try to run it through IE.

It's slow in the evening 'cause so many people are on. I thought that would be the obvious reason.
I agree with Malone - change your browser to Firefox. Internet Explorer is for people who don't know anything about computers. Firefox is fast and free to download. Add Fasterfox, as Malone has said, and it will speed it up more.
As an added thought, maybe have a bit of patience?
Again, it all boils down to the number of people online. The more people online the more demand on the server, and, ipso facto, the longer it will take to access different parts of the forum. Doesn't matter what browser you use.
Sam.

How much is needed and on what basis to make this site more optimal. Also how do you donate, I may be wrong but there are so many that would like for this to be faster maybe if enough people chipped in we could get this tired mule a going just a little bit faster. If there are 240 people logged on when Joseph was on surely a third of them could spare a dollar once a month to help out. I dunno, just a though.

I only browse ONE site at a time and yes, it is is really really slow. I can go through fifty others and this one always starts getting blurry as if it has a trojan effect to it. After like ten seconds it straightens out, though.
