New Writing Forum
I'm suggesting a new forum for works of greater length and ones that actually are a greater length. I've got almost 350 pages done and would like to continue posting my novel but when it's admist stories that start but don't end, sorry excuses for stories and where hardly any stories actually finish, so those of us that actually have complete and full stories can share them separately.

I think that could be a problem, cuz it takes more bandwidth for that. And sharing a whole novel would be crazy bandwidth

The best idea would be to publish online and provide a link.

Yeah that'll work best. It isn't too hard to publish online either, just be careful

You can post your novel by chapters - gradually.
Personally, I wouldn't read and critique a story longer than 6,000 words in one sitting.

You can google.doc the whole thing by chapter than just post the links in the post.

Are you on something Malone? I have read that several times and still can't make sense of it, and I don't think I am on anything.
Op:- Firstly I don't think that this would separate you from the poorer quality writing, as you see it. And why should it? The stated aim of the forum is to improve our writing, however much our personal view of it is as a showcase for our skills. Secondly, I don't know about others but my eyes get tired reading long things on a screen, it is not a good medium for it.

Google docs are like an online version of Word, Olly. You're just slipping behind the times.

I believe this idea has some merit to it. It would indeed, seperate the casual would be writers, from serious writers with lengthy works in progress. However, as stated above I second that I will not read beyond 6000 words in one sitting.

That makes two of us. Anyone care to explain how it works?

Go to google and sign in. If you already have a gmail (google email) account it's the same login. Otherwise, just sign up for a free account. There are a series of options once you're logged in (top left corner of the page for me, although I'm sure you can find it different ways): Web, Images, Gmail, News, Shopping, More (with a down arrow). Click more and then select "Documents" from the menu that enlarges from More.
You can write, edit, and save all your stuff there. It's basically an online Word or Notepad. It falls somewhere in between the capabilities of those two. All the work is saved online and you can choose to publish individual pieces so that a link is provided that you in turn share with people who want to read it.
I usually try to keep one copy of everything I write saved on google, and one saved on my PC hard drive.
Yesterday, my hard drive broke and I lost all my data, but luckily I had all my writing on google so I didn't lose it.
I find myself heading for google.doc more than Word nowadays. It's less bulky and loads as fast as any other internet page. Plus, you can access all your writing from any PC with an internet connection.

First, page count is no indicator of quality. Others may consider yours to be a 'sorry excuse' - that may be why you're not getting critiques.
Biggest problem, though, is that people don't read long stuff online. Not even if there's a special place for it. And to be honest, if you're taking your novel seriously then here is the wrong place for it. It's time you found yourself some beta-readers.
