Idea - "The Prison"

As some of you may know, I am a regular on the micronational scene, where messaging boards are the conduits for the social aspect of the whole thing. Basically, on the citizensrequired.com site, there was until June '06, the main messaging board of the kingdom of Lovely, and at the time, there were 58,000 people on the boards most days.

If anyone broke the House Rules, they were banned only if what they did was really, really bad - like introducing viruses, posting dodgy porn, that kind of thing. Otherwise, you would be put "in prison."

The prison was a subsection of the messaging board which was innacessable to anyone but those "imprisoned" there, and anyone "imprisoned" there would be unable to access the rest of the board. Thus, rule-breakers were not banned from the site, they were merely sectioned off from everyone else. That way people like me could be taken out of sensative topics or anyone who is harrassing, offensive, or simply cannot really be banned but need punishing.

Would the administration staff be interested in adopting a similar concept for this site?

Just a suggestion.

That actually sounds like a pretty good idea, I'm sure there's a downside but it sounds pretty good in general.
If the staff likes it as well I'll probably get myself locked up sooner or later just to see what kind of topics are discussed at such at place. Should be educational.

I personally don't think our forums here have that many hooligans yet to require a 'prison'.

surely it can be avoided by creating another account, thus making it darn pointless.

There are measures to punish rule-breakers already. A "prison" is sort of redundant.

Oh, well, it's an idea to consider.
