By the way, who is responsible for this site's upkeep? This place has been innacessable for days.

Ultimately it is the owner of this site that can fix major problems involving the technical aspect of this site. The site for the past week or so has been experiencing some corruptions in its data files. The active Admins and staff don't have access to the overall coding of this site in order to fix any file corruptions that may occur. Only (Yusef) the owner of this site has access. He didn't notice this problem until recently and he than corrected it.
Yusef has been a hands-off owner-meaning that he has let the staff run the site as we seem fit- he looks in on this site every few days to see if it's running smoothly. Unfortunately after he fixed the last problem he didn't check in until yesterday to find that the problem still persisted. The reason why is took the owner so long was that his VM notification didn't notify him. Hopefully we will get a better way to communicate with him more expeditely in the future.
We apologize for the inconvenience of these last few days and when we get a better handle on what went wrong we will let the general membership know.
my warmest
bob

Glad to know the problem is being worked on. I was beginning to doubt that someone was going to fix it.

Any chance he could give on the moderators his phone number? A polite text here and there could save 2/3 days of down time.
No disrespect meant, it's just infuriating when i can't get peoples advice and opinions at whim, perhaps i'll need to ask for a certain few peoples msn addies in future

Amber-
Make a small donation and he'll invite you for brunch. It has to be brunch for he works the swing shift at Barnum and Baileys. He cleans the boa constrictors. We had a lovely cream of artichoke soup for an entree.
Hope this helps
Adrian

I’m no specialist in the area, but I think I fall into the above mentioned category of a member that comes back every now and then to check things out. I think you’re right, Mike, about making a quality product that people want. If the product is strong enough, people will come back. I manage my own writing forum, and I’ve go the same issues mentioned above. Mass messaging doesn’t often yield in people coming back to the forums. It might bring there for a few minutes to check out what’s new, to clear their message, but it doesn’t translate to posts. For me, I think one of the most important things to keep members is a strong staff presence. I’ve had it happen to me, several times, here even, where my PMs to the staff go unanswered for weeks. That, to me, is the biggest indicator of a site (not to imply anything about WF).
As for younger writers: I’ve got ‘em, you’ve got ‘em, that’s how it is. Younger people have the time and energy to burst weekly with prose and poems nonstop. I see your point about wanting more mature members (who doesn’t?) but I don’t think it’s fair to judge the younger posters as less talented. Some of the more talented people at my site are at least 5 years younger than I. Some are still in high school. That’s how it goes. I think any forum should be pleased that they have members, that they have returning members, and they have people willing to put their time and effort into the site.

Is the owner looking into getting the site to load a bit better? According to Alexa, 87% of websites load faster than this one.

Look Adrian, I think everyone else knows but you. The only out-back he has seen is out-back the unsaddling enclosure at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day with the foxee wife of the winning owner culminating in the headline in a rival rag -.
Ox coxs fox in horse box.
The man is a cad and a bounder (listen – anyone considering doing a Skippy joke – I know where your children live. Capiche!)
You're outed XO - get used to it.

Stop right there! That's a viscous lie spread by a secret organization of mutant sanitation workers aimed at destroying western civilization.
If you must know the truth, Ox is a cross dressing head mistress at an exclusive Beverly Hills truancy kindergarten. I know him personally by the name of Ms. Olsen.
I wouldn't mention this except they (SWOW-Santatation Workers of the World) didn't pick up my trash on Monday. I have no love for them but absolutely no reason to lie.
Respectfully yours,
Adrian
