Word Counters Suggestion
I want to suggest that a word counter be added to our Profiles to use in signatures or something.

Why can't you just put it in the signature yourself?

You wanna design and implement one? Not sure how much effort it would be for the admins/mods, but I don't see why it should be their job to keep track of your word count. And all those trolls who don't actually write (or read) would be in danger of discovery. Can't have that... what kinda forum would this be without them?

How true-
I'm new but I recently found a couple of characters working over a young writer here, piling on, unnecessary roughness, well...you get the idea.
For my education, I checked their credentials trying to find how many awards they'd received, best sellers, Newberry prizes 'cause they sounded like old time pros of the forum.
What a surprise! One had never submitted a story; the other, two small pieces in two years.
Goes something like -if you're goin' to dish it out, get cooking in the kitchen.

You want to give up those cancer-sticks. They’re addling your reasoning skills. Where is it engraved in stone that one must first be a writer in order to be a critic? I can’t write for shit, but I'm an avid reader (of published work), and both in books and on this site I can and do pick inconsistencies, illogicalities, mis-use of words, bad grammar, spelling errors, mistakes in the construction of embedded sentences . . . . .
Besides which, I know what I like, and when I find it here (rarely), I am fulsome in my praise.

Well strangely , considering the source and the rampant uncontrolled inbreeding in Aussieland, you have a point
Although, it's a little like joining a hunting club to take up knitting.
That hasn't stopped the rest of us. But you've convinced me, there may be a place for pure critics. However, in the interest of public safety, they need to be tranquillized and tagged first .
Cheers
Adrian
