Multiple Bans

Permanent Bans have just been issued to four members of this forum. Voodoo,Throth, Hulls Raven, and Luther have lost their membership rights due to their misconduct and disregard of the rules of conduct that these forums require. Threats, flaming and general hostility conducted by these members have caused a disruption that if left unchecked would cause irreparable harm to this site.

In the two weeks that Voodoo has returned from his previous ban -chaos has followed. Throth, Hulls Raven and Luther issued threats to Voodoo which were unsettling and not to be tolerated on a public site. But threats are not made in a vacuum for they were baited into their behaviour by the trollish and baiting behaviour of Voodoo.

Voodoo is a very talented and popular member of this site. We at staff have bent over backwards in trying to understand and moderate his behavior. He is a loose cannon and needs too much moderation to keep him in line. We do not have the time and resources to cater to his whims and desires. This is not a Voodoo site, but a writing one, and as much as we like and even admire him he is to disruptive and toxic for this site. Three members went over the edge due to his caustic ways.

These banning's may not be popular and many of you may think that they are unjustified. That is your right. But we need to do what's best for the entire site and as representatives and caretakers of this site we thought the best action to take was these multiple banning's. These were done with a heavy heart.

I'm sure some of them deserved it, based on my having a knowledge of alleged incidents from a confidential source.

I cant say im disappointed, i found one crit in 26 replies to my poem. I dont see any need to hijack threads to sort your petty differences out. I know i screwed up by not reading the rules and guidelines before posting, so i guess I am responsible for the havock that followed there, but the banned members were foul mouthed and somewhat repulsive at times. I pity any site they choose to disrupt next.

What annoys me most about the bannings is that Thoth's paranoid ideas about people wanting to censor him and silence his independent thought will now be confirmed from his point of view.
Just for the record, while Voodoo is certainly an ass at times and might have pushed Raven and Luther over the edge I'm pretty sure he can't be blamed for Thoth's behavior. That guy must've reached his edge before he ever reached this forum.

Oh, and am I the only one who imagines Selorian saying "Hijacking threads is unacceptable." in a really Judge Dredd-ish voice? I'm probably quite insane but it sounds pretty cool in my head.

It takes two to tango.

When it happens again, all that any of you need to do, with any disruptive influences, is to ignore them. Why some of you persist in rising to the bait is beyond me. Show some restraint yourself, or some common sense. The disruptors will soon tire of playing on their own.

It's a pity that it had to come to this. I've not been here long but can honestly say that I've not had any problems with Voodoo. We spoke in pm and he seemed alright to me.

Ahh well I'm sure there were reasons...anyways glad it's all sorted.

I find it hard to comprehend that anyone can have both the intensity and the gossip-mongering displayed in the previous post over what is no more than a few electronic blips on a monitor.
FOR CHRIST’S FUCKING SAKE. Why don’t all of you get a life? All this fucking carry-on over pixels on a screen.
Perhaps if you were mugged or raped or shot at you might justifiably be jumping up and down, but this . . . .

Has nobody but me noticed that the way that "banns" is spelt in this thread pertains to the posting of an announcement of a forthcoming wedding. I was expecting the announcement of lots of forum marriages.

The only really surprising thing to me is that GloryGloryManUtd, who was behaving equally as badly as the others in the flame war that has been going on, was not included in the bans.

I noticed, but just tacked it up to the poor spelling running rampant on this forum...

Voodoo basically went through the entire episode with me as it was happening so I have a pretty good understanding of what exactly went on.

I understand why the bans were issued and I think, in the end, it's ok.

While some of the things said can be justified..in the end it goes against the forum rules and you can't really pussy foot around that. I just feel bad for Voodoo because I do like the kid.
