why won't new site owner reply to messages?
i've sent several, asking for a reply about something i feel is important to the site and get no response whatsoever! ... a sorry comedown from the good old days back when our old glorious leaders chrispian and co. were running things .. especially since the new owner said he wanted to improve things... why even have a 'report' function, if we're ignored when reporting things, huh?
yussuf, if you're out there somewhere, will you please let me know if you got my messages, at least?... and not here, please... send reply to my 'home' address below... thanks...
love and disappointed hugs, maia

Maia, the report function is like noreply email. You don't get an email back after sending one.
We've gotten your complaints and we're discussing what to do about them. Be patient.

thanks so much, selorian!. didn't know that a request for a reply in a report notice wouldn't generate one... i really appreciate your swift response..
btw, why on earth have i been hung w/o a trial?.. i just now noticed that little red square under my name that accuses me of 'shameless behavior' which i can't recall ever committing here... how can i be drawn and quartered in public, without being told why, or given a chance to explain or defend myself?
how can i get that removed?.. surely after so many years here i've proven i'm courteous and polite, even if bluntly honest, don't you think?
love and hugs, maia

Maia, that would be the Karma system. Members are allowed to add or subtract karma at their discretion. Staff has no control over how they choose to use it.

well i sure didn't add that to mine, so who did?-- and who just took it off and changed it to the green that most of the others have, if staff has no control over it?-- can just anyone add 'karma' to another person's profile without their knowedge/consent?
and where is this 'karma' -adding/subracting thingy anyway?-- i can't find anything on it anywhere, so i'm obviously not looking in the right place--
thanks for the reply, in any case-- puzzled hugs, m

An explanation of the rep system:
Anyone can add to or subtract from another's karma at any time. Positive karma is green negative is red. To add positive or negative karma to someone click on the icon that looks like the scales of justice, which is located beside the little circle that lets you know if someone is online. It also lets you add a comment about about why you took this action. These messages show up on the User CP.
The idea behind the system is that users can reward someone who makes a particularly good post or punish someone who makes a post of little value.

thanks for the info, fellas!... doesn't seem a fair thing to have however, such as in my case where some meanspirited 'person' gave me a red mark for no good reason... and added a libelous comment, to boot!... i can guess who, but i wouldn't do that to anyone... not even to him, though he's given me more than ample justification...
so, who took it off, if the staff has no control over it?

It's supposed to be a fun thing, not to be taken too seriously. However, on some forums, staff will respond to abuse of the Reputation system (also known as Karma). and staff can see who gave/received karma and undo any abuse of the system.
I'm not sure how it's perceived here though.

I took it off- The karma system is a harmless distraction not to be taken seriously. But I saw how upset you were and considering that you're a valued member who has contributed greatly to this forum I punched you up to the green where you belong.
my warmest

Generally, if you're well liked at a forum, the positives will outweigh the negatives over time, so it's not something to really worry about unless you're consistently getting neg repped. In that case, a person needs to examine their posting. If they really feel they've been valuable and decent, after looking at how they're being perceived and why, then they may want to reconsider their stay on that board.
I'm not suggesting you need to consider your posting. It's a general statement. I'm a n00b and am only just beginning to get a feel for things here. I don't know who's who and what's what just yet.
