Spamming PMs.
Has this been much of a problem here? I just got a PM from a new member, which amounts to spam. I don't see a report function for this kind of spam. How is it best to deal with this?

Forward the PM to a staff member and they'll take it from there.

Who cares if someone sends a pm asking to join their forum. Just don't respond. I don't see any reason the get offended by it.

I used to get those all the time, but I just delete them. Strangely, I don't get them anymore (not that I want to). I told one person that I didn't know who he was and he scared me.

I just delete them. I mention it to a moderator if it's something really annoying, like if another member starts on a harassment campaign.

I just got one from drytearpoet.
I didn't respond, but is was funny-
Something to the effect of "I think you're the greatest poet ever please post your amazing work here, too!"
They'd sent it to four other people.

Hello all
I come from the website community ************.
On that website my username is the same as I have choosen here.
I am a long term member of the community and I have served as moderator and admin in the past for the community. I no longer do so and so I approach you as a member of the community. If management from my community has already contacted you then please take their advice before mine.
It has come to my attention that several of your community members have been joining our website over the last few days. This seems to be down to people being PMed directly on your website and something I personally would consider to be spam and underhand tactics.
Being a member of drytear since april 2002 I can tell you that this is not a tactic that our management would be proud of. This is not something we would undertake.
I can only apoligise for what is happening and try to open an avenue through which your leaders can approach us. If anyone would like to contact me directly, I will check back here periodically. If you would like to contact me through the ************ website then my username is Rigor.
If you wish to contact moderators or management of the ************ community then please visit our website where you can view members according to their status. Adam is the owner of ************ but he is currently on an extended vacation, so I would suggest that anyone wishing to contact Management would PM Kate at present. There are also several moderators who you could also contact.
Myself, I can not make any final decisions regarding the drytear community but I will try to help resolve any issues that your member may be experiencing.

Yeah, I came by to check the scene and see if there was a big problem with someone spamming from our boards. I do apologize if this is the case. We don't like it when people do it. We have had in the past a member that visited many sites, and I see one of the threads from 2006. We keep trying to nip the little problem in the butt, but we can't figure out where or why this keeps happening.
If you have the name of the person that sent the PMs and is causing a problem, if you could inform us of that so we can try and see if it is a member that's doing it so we can try and stop it from our end.

I looked over your site, and I saw the same usernames as a couple of Wf members.
it's unethical as hell. if you find out who did it, you should ban them.
WF is pretty much sovereign, save for lit.org. we don't want other forums inserting themselves.

I assure you we are not here to insert ourselves or impose in any way.
Yes this is happening. it was made clear by new members that have joined our forums recently and hence I came here (like Dexyohno who uses a different username on drytear. Josh please make your personality clear to this community) and i have pointed it out to others in our community.
I see that the username that has been PMing people here was a purposely created name and im sure that your admin have been wise enough to ban this name.
Myself I do not know who it is that is doing this and if I should find out then I would support your view Voodoo.
I don't want this persons actions to be representative of our community simply because this is not something that we would encourage. Yet through the years this is not the first time i have witnessed this kind of action.
BTW: The Reception is a good forum on our website that will show some of the new member who join and post on our website. in case anyone needs a pointer as to where I am getting my info on our website.

perhaps you can work with WF to find out the ip of the user
or not.
I've joined dry tear, but as of this point, my opinion is very low.
