The old issue we had, which existed for several months before we were informed about it, went from around November 2006 to Janurary 2007 and possibly earlier, but that's the general information i have found doing research. The source was taken care of. It wasn't connected directly to any of our members, but a bot that started circulating our information to different sites. It was not endorsed by any of our administration or moderation team. The Moderation team on our site doesn't have access to viewing IP addresses any longer. It'd be easiest to get in contact with one of our administration. We didn't shrug off the old complaints once we received them, we tried our best and didn't mean to come off cold or distant.

I can see a true effort is being made, and for that I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

The issue has actually been going on since early 2006 and some of the member accounts created to spam our forum members used various email addresses attached to your forum founder, Adam. As I stated in a PM to Rigor, that doesn't look too good on your site or the founder of it. With this bit of information, it makes contacting Adam, which we have before, kind of pointless.

Penelope talked to your site's founder last July, so you knew about it well before November. We even have a copy of the pm you guys sent her in our moderation boards. It didn't exactly give anyone the impression that you wanted to do anything about it then.

My opinion of the site has gone down dramatically since I registered with them a few days ago.

They have been exposed at every angle and caught at every corner.

There poets are awful and prose is worse.

I may leave them?

We don't have any info of that on the moderation forums. I've check back through all of our details. All I've found is that because of spamming we received that we got an influx of members ourselves in 2006 due to another site harassing us, and people from that site moving to our site...which was weird. So I can firmly say, that on the moderation team, we had no idea about it. It never once pops up until Janurary 2007 where we were responding to the issues. I am not sure who was spoken with, but we do send our apologizes on that. It has been a sore point, and we have a few ideas where it is generating from, which as I stated earlier isn't a team member nor a member of our general boards. It fits the pattern of the original spammer that hit our site.

Maybe that is the excuse you give to all sites?? I may cancel my membership with them because of this, you are now losing members not gaining them.

Hopefully the color of the above decried greeting has been able to cut through some of what I believe has been animal crap in the previous posts to this thread.

So yes, there is another site called drytear--quite a paradox, I suppose, but they say the name is half the charm-- and apparently the poets there suck. Perhaps that's too harsh. Rather, they need to severely revise. Severely.

So then these mediocre but salvagable poets decide to make nuisances of themselves on our prestigious website. Who gives?!

Guys, if we have enough confidence in our website & forum that we can swiftly kick their patooies, who cares if you occasionally get a spammy PM from one of their members? Napoleon had to step on a few toes on his way to the top.

And that, ladies, gents, and otherwise, is my stance on the topic. Spam may be a serious no-no in the cyber world, and sure, it's unpleasant, but are you personally volunteering to scrub the graffitti off of every urban surface? Didn't think so.

Any WF members who are flaming members of Drytear at their forum need to stop now, or you will be contacted and reprimanded for your actions. Such behavior makes you, and, in turn, WF, no better than those you are upset with for the spam our members have received.

It's not so much a matter of sanitizing the love seat as it is making sure spammers don't get the idea that such behavior is tolerated.

I am concerned that if we are relaxed to it, that it might predominate new posts. A clean forum is a healthy forum. Tolerance to breaking rules is a serious concern I think we should all naturally have. There are appropriate ways to advertise, and this isn't one of them. It's not a big deal, and the staff here seem very reliable; they're quick to kick their patooies off the forum. But really, this is more me expressing some surprise after personal extensive activity in several other forums over the years.

I'm certainly not offended by it. And my only response has been to forward it. That's it. It's just that this is the first forum I've been to where I've seen so many attempts, in particular with my own PM box. Hence my question about it's severity here. I'm hoping this is isolated.
