it seems as though drytear has been busy.

Just by spending a few minutes on google, I came up with the following.

GV, some very good digging on your part, but trust me, this isn't new information to the staff. We are well aware of Drytear and the spam that comes from their site.

My concern here is this...

The best type of spam is spam that doesn't appear to be spam. This recent cooperation could very likely be nothing more than an attempt to garner members of WF by employing an elaborate scheme of appearing sympathetic to the blatant spam of some of Drytears members. Granted, it may not be the case, but spammers can get very creative and spend a lot of time setting it up to not appear as spam.

I will work with them on trying to determine the people responsible for the blatant spam. But again, like I said earlier, it does little to make up for what has happened before. This cooperation on their part isn't a reason for WF members to be running to their door to join up for their site.

If they are serious on resolving the issue, they can PM me and I will offer any assistance I can in tracking down who is doing the spamming.

Well first off i had no idea that this was such a big problem. I came here simply because I noticed a large influx of new members from your website and Voodoo said he had received spam. I thought I would come here and find out why.

I don't expect to be able to correct what has already happened as this is impossible but to put a stop to it reoccuring is something we can attempt to put a stop to.

poaching methods are not pretty.

perhaps that's why you have

writingforums members.

then, you have drytear members.

an obvious difference.

A summer influx on drytear is nothing new, so I hear.

Maybe its not so obvious as your presently a posting member of both forums, despite the views you espouse.

Could any member who has received spam from someone through the PM system here at WF please forward the PM to me if you still have it? If not, then if you could remember the name of the member doing the spam and send it, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to do some digging into past incidents and see what can be done through a combined effort to prevent this from happening in the future.

We don't need spam to get an annual flux of members.
Croc tears are bittersweet, my duplicitous friend.
Any possible way to delete my drytears account- ya know, I did join just to see what all the spam was about.

Im quite impressed by WF. I can appreciate ethics and I don't like the tactics that have been used towards your members.

I replied here and then found your pm on drytear to me and replied to that.

I know of no way to delete your own account. In fact i have never come across a forum that does allow it.

I wouldn't say i was duplicious in this matter, just observant.

rather displeased, but I've been told to stay out of it.
Whatever I say about the quality of drytear material is irrelevant.
I'm just not convinced you'll do everything in your power to stop the spam.

Your right, I have done nothing convincing yet to resolve this other than make an effort to come here and try to contact the correct people with an aim to understanding what is happening and how to resolve it.

I can't promise that I can even put a stop to it.

All I can do is try and that is what I am here to do, whether people believe me or not.
