What's the difference between writer's workshop and critique and advice?

Workshop protects the first rights, I think, whilst advice is for parts or work less valued.

Still, kinda wish everything on here was protected like that.

You need help with something you love, put it in workshop.

And if you don't love it, don't waste other people's time by posting it.

I'm not sure how it works here, biggles
(people have their own ideas and approaches in these things)
but in general terms, the difference should be in the magnitude and type
of involvement requested or offered ...

in real world forums, conferences etc, a "workshop" infers direct
(and sometimes equal) input into the body of the work ...
it entails "brainstorming" ideas, discussing approaches ...
the actual development of the text or
"fleshing out" of an idea ...

"critique" is (should be) about opinions relating to the material presented -
nothing more ...
eg, "this works" "that doesn't" ... and why ...

"advice" is (should be) about ideas in general terms aimed at improving
the material or its presentation ...
eg, "work on your grammar/dialogue/punctuation" ...
or "perhaps do X to avoid the obvious cliche that is in this scene"

None the less, posting in an area that is public endangers the right of the author to publish the work elsewhere. Whatever label you want to put on critiquing and advise, and I might question your definitions. But that is a matter of opinion.
