which wouldn't inspire confidence in potential clients, would it!
if your writing skills are better than displayed here [ ], it's possible, but not very probable... and it wouldn't pay much... someone just posted an appeal for a writer to turn out marketing letters and offered the paltry sum of 30 cents per letter, with a minimum of 40 per day required... so, were you able to get that job, you could make $12 a day... however, the level of writing/life experience and skill required by the job offerer would preclude you from applying...
there are scads of folks out there looking for cheap writers of this and that... if you answer enough 'ads' you just might get lucky... it's the ability that counts, not the age of the writer, so don't even mention your age... but don't lie, either, if asked!
best of luck... love and hugs, maia

It makes perfect sense. Please reread the aforementioned quotation once again, and remember to read what came just before it. If that still doesn't help, send me a PM.

Consider volunteering for a town newspaper or journal to gain experience and connections.

as farror notes, it makes perfect sense [to those with a decent grasp of english, anyway]... since you seem to have a comprehension problem, here's a simplified version:
agents/editors are only interested in how good the writing is...
they do NOT care about how old the writer is...
so, do NOT mention your age when you write to them...
but, if you are asked how old you are, do NOT lie about it...
get it now?

Not grumpy, direct. She is of the "no bull" variety. Gotta respect that in a woman.

People have a horrible tendency to judge the idea on the person that supplies it. If certian aspects of the person reamin hidden, then certian presumptions about the idea are avoided. thats why some women writers in the past had male names on their works.

thanks, rh!... isn't it amazing how some folks prefer to think willing/caring advice givers are 'grumpy' or whatever, when the explanation sought was given, but without the sugar-coating some egos seem to need?... especially mind-boggling when the person complaining about the advice was rude to begin with, but the 'critic' only singles out the advice-giving respondent's post as 'grumpy' while ignoring the real grumpy party's comments...

As the cliché goes..."you shouldn't judge a book by its cover" seems analogous to writers and their sex, age or education. In a perfect world one’s writing or a body of writings should be evaluated by its impact, not on author’s personals. Ooopps, did I say a “perfect world”, sorry about that…no such place exists.
You post it and you open yourself up to comments, good and bad. Like life, savor the good moments, bear with dignity the bad moments…but make sure you learn from both.

Oh shush.. If I were criticizing, I wouldn't have said EEK.
And 'blunt advice' or not, that was snippety, which was simply the fact I was pointing out.. not judging; pointing out.

Pointing out, judging... let's argue over semantics shall we? I'm just giving you a hard time.. but seriously, I catch a lot of flack for being blunt and forward. I eat sugar-coatings for breakfast.

I agree with what the teacher said about needing other subjects to be a writer. If you want a professional job you will need at least enough qualification to get through college and university, or your national equivalents.
If you want to be a self employed writer (different from a paid job as you earn the money yourself instead of working for someone) then you will need something to support you while you make your break.
Also life experience helps in writing, the more things you experience the more things you can consistentely and accurately write about. Im still young myself but i have learned a great deal since leaving school and i know now that i didnt know much then.
Just dont give up!
