We're thinking that it's a problem with mySQL. When the hosting company replied to me last night, beginning with "It's friday night, a very busy night for the forums...." I thought that it might be a good time to find a new hosting company. I think we can safely say that we'll probably experience more downtime, but I'll try to limit that as much as possible. Thanks everyone for the concern, and especially to Chris for pitching in to help during the rough times.

It did seem to me that URL retrieval rate was very slow over the last week, esp when selecting an in indiviual thread.

Usually the sign of an overworked server.

If you guys need a new host, I would highly recommend Liquid Web. I can personally vouch for them. And no, they don't pay me to pimp their services. I've got my own site with them. That's why I know they're good. Plus I have a lot of friends working there who know the place very well.
